Brand Profile

Spring/Summer 2011 collection

Since its creation in 2006, directional label twenty-seven names has inspired a cult-like following. With art and fashion degree backgrounds respectively, designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart cite contemporary art as the basis for their collections.

twenty-seven names plays with themes of androgyny, while tying together the formal and informal: the serious and the humorous.

Their label is ever-migrating and can be found nationwide as well as in stores across Australia, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. They will be showing for the fourth time at this years New Zealand Fashion Week 2011.

Twenty-seven names’ summer 2011/12 range, Still Waters Run Deep, is a collection that is true to its name. Pieces inspired by the Japanese Mori Girls are simple and placid—made from natural fibres, using clean lines, and a sandy palette. But dive a little deeper, and you find a heady alternative; vibrant hand-designed heart prints, mismatched fabrics, and classic pieces turned unfamiliar through fruity detail.

The collection does not attempt to present a contrast, but rather delves below our poised exteriors to dredge up the idiosyncrasies beneath.
