Brand Profile |

|
The rules of Stolen Girlfriends Club: a youthful rebellious spirit, a healthy sense of humour, and the ability to entertain and make things matter. |
They have quickly progressed from slogan tees, and today the brand consists of three categories - T-shirting and denim, jewellery and the more directional seasonal fashion collections for men and women. Whether inspired by punk romanticism, peace and love, or nomads and gypsies, each Stolen Girlfriends Club collection has an underlying feeling of rock'n roll delinquency. The designer’s casual surf backgrounds are also reflected in the wearable, sportswear feel to the clothes. |

SPRING 2011 ‘UNTITLED’ Spring 2011 sees Stolen Girlfriends Club brush off their shoes, straighten up their ties, put a comb through an unruly coif and stand up straight. Proving they’ve got a little bit of polish, you would be forgiven for thinking the boys have grown up little, but not too much. The Stolen Boys are outwardly more refined in both appearance and behaviour; less grunge on the surface but still plenty of bite beneath it. The Stolen Girl is feminine with a razor sharp edge. This season she grows up in full length maxi-dresses and skirts that have a Victorian stitched-up sex appeal, freshened with modern digital printed panels. Hard meets soft with draping and tailoring that marry fluid silks with rigid tailoring. Enzyme washed drill and denim rub up against soft sateen, silk georgette and jersey. Suiting jackets and shirt dresses feature sheer draped georgette in sleeves and curved paneling. Leather with biker style articulations are pieced back in with denim in jackets and jeans, and colour splashes are delivered by an in house digital print- the first for Stolen Girlfriends Club. The signature print mirrors an image of a waterfall to infinite reflection in muted greyscale, or bursts into brilliant orange and peace poppy red, picking up the corals, purple and dove greys that run through the collection.

SUMMER 2011 ‘THE BIG COMEDOWN’ Stolen Girlfriends Club leads us down the garden path this season with a signature print derived from the stunning work of New Zealand visual artist Karl Maughan. Dealing with ideas stemming from the cultivation of the ideal, and an interruption or imposition on nature, the print presents a flawlessness that is both seductive and suspicious. Maughan's hyper-real paintings of surrealist fantasy landscapes in an explosion of colour are magnified and multiplied into an infinite maze of light and dark that dances on a slipstream of silk. The collection is built into two parts: The intensely saturated colour conveys all the heightened sensitivity of being in love. The dark midnight colour represents that moment when love is gone. Refining their rock edge, Stolen Girlfriends Club applies their irreverent approach to sharp tailoring, loosened by panels of chiffon and georgette, dresses with articulated bodice details and a lick of leather, offering a collection with a slicker surface and a darker heart. The Big Comedown reflects a superficial beauty with an ominous undertone. Whether inspired by punk romanticism, peace and love, or nomads and gypsies, each Stolen Girlfriends Club collection has the base of rock and roll delinquency that is so beloved of a growing customer base of influential fashion leaders including Juliette Lewis, Kate Bosworth, Lykke Li, Beyonce Knowles, Florence Welch and Liberty's Yasmin Sewell
