Stolen Girlfriends Club was formed in 2005 by ex professional surfers Marc Moore and Luke Harwood. The reason for starting their own brand? To make t-shirts that their girlfriends could wear home in the morning...thus
giving the brand an ever present androgynous feel.
Stolen Girlfriends Club is a clothing brand built on a creative platform (based on innovative ideas under the inspirations of fashion, art, design & music) with a youthful, quirky and rebellious spirit. All their collections are
made here in NZ, instantly giving the brand a high end boutique feel with an exclusive niche market.
Stolen Girlfriends Club's Winter 2010 collection 'Welcome to Nowhere; celebrates nomags, gypsies and vagabonds from around the globe. Drawing inspiration from a variety of cultures and countries this collection
is a mish mash of existence...the end result? A nomadic biker gang of Sherpa mountain climbers and their
kidnapped trophy girlfriends.
Biker references are rife in this collection with chunky gold zip detailing and the 'Wanderer' gang-badge throughout. Hand crocheted Yeti cardigans, scarves and hats, transport you from open roads to mountain tops. Magpie detailing of gold buttons, metallic zips and studs paired with ripped velvet jeans and tatty lace ruffles evoke gypsies with a stoic pride in treasuring the ill-fitting, broken and borrowed.
A long road stretches out in fornt of you and snakes it's way behind, and the garments on your back are the only opportunity for expression and survival.
