Since it’s inception in 2001 at a humble weekend market stall, creative couple Susien Chong and Nic Briand have taken their
label Lover and firmly established it as an influential brand that has managed to garner praise from Vogue to Vice magazine.
Self described as ‘same album, different songs’, the couple, who met in 1996, have taken their talents in fashion design, and graphic design, mixed with their individual tastes one for romantic and ethereal, the other for loud and irreverent, woven together to create a label that has remained true to its signature style and ideals from day one.With their unique approach to feminine fashion, Lover is the perfect combination of pop culture references, quirky detailing and intimate fabrication. With a
cult following and coverage that spans across an envious selection of publications such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Nylon and Yen, its no wonder the label is seen placed on numerous ‘one to watch lists’.
When asked to explain who or what is Lover, the couple reply, “We started the label based on what we loved and admired, in turn we’ve created our own world with a mix and match of our favourite heroes, muses, films and songs. We’ve found Lover ladies all over the world who share a similar vision who have re interpreted the garments in their way, and for us that’s perfect.
