Melbourne based menswear label Flux has been making denim and tees since 1999. The two designers responsible, Denis Leadbeater and Julian Johnson, met at a local pink gig during the late 80’s. Starting with small beginnings, the duo began stocking hand printed tees to a couple of Melbourne stores. Flux is now stocked at 50 boutiques across the country, Tokyo, USA, Singapore and Europe.
Flux comes from a diverse range of influences, from French poetry & military uniforms to gothic imagery & the urgency of the punk movement.... and often a mix of all these at once. The attention to detail is second to none, and the whole FLUX package is carefully put together and very well designed. Each pair of jeans is hand sanded, drilled, rubbed and washed to the highest standard, finished off with individually painted hardware.
Their Spring/Summer collection entitled VICTORIE features a limited colour palette and dark imagery. The range is torn, washed, crushed and faded. Key pieces include the ‘Fucking Skinny Leg’ jeans, the ultra washed denim ‘Prison Shirt’, the ‘Home Bleached’ denim jeans and plenty of printed tees with themes of Lost Love, New Love, Victory & Death.
