Deadly Ponies is the brainchild of celebrated designer Liam Bowden. His name has become synonymous with the blurring of high fashion and function. His bags and jewellery have a worldwide reputation for their quirky, high quality designs. |
His skills and following have grown over the past four years culminating in the exclusive collection Deadly Ponies offers today. Teaching himself the pattern construction, sewing and finishing involved in leather accessory production was no easy task, however this do-it-yourself approach has helped him create a one of a kind aesthetic, with ranges featuring quality hand-finishing and layered off-beat designs. |

Deadly Ponies Winter 2012 collection storms ahead with a ragged mix of bold winter colours, quilting and chain. Rag cotton fabric beautifully framed in New Zealand deer leather sets off a couple of signature pieces in this season’s rage. Designer Liam Bowden says his fascination with the millions of colours in a single piece of rag felting really set his mind whirling. “It became a challenge to turn something ugly into something beautiful,” he says. Bowden has achieved this by adding time-consuming quilting only adding to their uniqueness. The surprises in this range do not end there. A bold magenta, grubby silt and ink blue all strike the perfect visual balance between chaos and collectible.

And for the first time, Deadly Ponies steers away from their classic handle and incorporates the use of gold chain with shoulder pads to compliment a variety of new shapes. Yet possibly the greatest triumph in the range comes with the inclusion of a new family of jewellery in the range.
Ripping through the rest of the range are timely tributes to the best of Deadly Ponies with the use of goat and calf furs and the return of a few classics. With the arrival of Hurrichain, there can be no doubt that Deadly Ponies have created the perfect storm.
